Pro Bono Volunteers Needed 2022 Sangamon County Expungement & Record Sealing

PRO BONO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
2022 SANGAMON COUNTY EXPUNGEMENT & RECORD SEALING SUMMIT
 

A criminal record can negatively impact a person’s ability to find employment, secure stable housing, and go to school long after their sentence has been completed. 
 
The Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s office, the Sangamon County Bar Association, the Sangamon County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee, Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Springfield Urban League, the Appellate Public Defender’s Office, Identi-Check, and Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) are holding the annual Sangamon County Expungement & Record Sealing Summit on October 29th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at LLCC Medical District, 130 West Mason Street, Springfield, IL 62702. 
 
Two Free CLEs are being presented by Land of Lincoln Legal Aid to promote pro bono attorney participation at the 2022 Summit. 
 
July 22, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. via ZoomOverview of Illinois Expungement/Sealing Law (1 Hour CLE). This CLE will examine Illinois law and how to assist clients in expunging and sealing certain criminal records including Cannabis convictions. 
August 19, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. via Zoom: Evaluating Eligibility to Expunge & Seal Sangamon County Criminal History (1 Hour CLE) This CLE will work up a mock client’s eligibility to expunge/seal their Sangamon County criminal history and walk through the various steps in working up the case.
