The Appellate Lawyers Association (ALA) and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI) Cordially Invite You to Attend a Presentation Featuring Vox Correspondent Ian Millhiser:

The Supreme Court and The Future of Abortion

2021 VIRTUAL LUNCH TIME APPELLATE SEMINAR

The Supreme Court’s recent ruling allowing a Texas anti-abortion law to go into effect may be a predictor of its upcoming rulings on the subject. The Supreme Court has also set oral argument on December 1 in a case challenging the constitutionality of a Mississippi statute prohibiting abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The Mississippi case is widely seen as a potential vehicle for the Court to overrule Roe v. Wade.

Our presenter, Ian Millhiser, has been writing and speaking about this topic, including the Court’s increasing use of its “shadow docket.” A Senior Correspondent at Vox, where he covers the Supreme Court, Mr. Millhiser clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and has authored two books on the Supreme Court. The training will be moderated by ALA President Scott Howie.
