A Message from Frank Lynch - United Way 2020 Pledge Drive - 12/11
Friends
Peg and I and the guys at WBL&L are writing to ask for your help with the 2020 United Way campaign. We are going to be on the Sam Madonia show Friday morning on WFMB. Peg and I, and my partners at Wolter Beeman Lynch and Londrigan, have pledged to match every donation that is made during that show. Please tune in and if you are not already a United Way donor please consider making a pledge or contribution.
You can make your pledge at this link: https://igfn.us/form/kCfmDA,
Or do it by texting UWCIL2020 to the number 41444
As a reminder, 100% of your donation will go directly to United Way funded programs.
We believe it’s really important to help the United Way of Central Illinois right now. Not-for-profits in our community have faced unprecedented challenges this year. First, the need for educational support , basic needs, health, and financial stability all have dramatically increased.
The second part of the equation is that donations and contributions to social service and not-for-profit agencies and programs have dramatically, but understandably declined. United Way is the primary source of funding for many of these programs.
We think the most effective way to help address the biggest need in our community is through the United Way. UWCIL gathers research, experts, community leaders, and service providers together to identify the biggest problems in the community. We help identify and develop programs that efficiently and effectively address those problems. Finally, we hold those programs and ourselves accountable for making measurable improvement and change by asking for data and evidence that the funded programs work.
We encourage you to view the 2020 community impact report http://springfieldunitedway.org/2020report/#.X9EUXEBFwcQ to see how our programs measure success. Programs funded by United Way are effective. In 2019, 75% of kids who participated in United Way funded reading programs improved their skills and 70% of kids who participated in math programs improve their skills. Children who received help with our summer education programs improved at reading and math rather than experiencing summer slide.
We know that this is a tough year for all of us, but our friends and neighbors really need us now. Every gift matters, no matter how large or how small.
Thank you
Frank and Peg Lynch and the partners at Wolter Beeman Lynch & Londrigan
