Terence "Terry" Joseph Corrigan Obituary

Terence “Terry” Joseph Corrigan passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Terry was born on October 7, 1955, in Streator, Illinois. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Southern Illinois University School of Law.

He practiced law in Springfield for 40 years while working for the Illinois Supreme Court, the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, Cassiday Schade (Of Counsel), O’Halloran Kosoff Geitner & Cook (Of Counsel), and the U.S. Court.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne (Flynn) Corrigan.

He is survived by his brothers, Kevin (Janice) and Gerald; and sisters, Sharon (Dan Burkhalter) and Jeanne (Charles McBarron).

He was a benevolent uncle who loved giving his eight nieces and nephews everything their parents would not. He donated money to almost any cause that asked for it, and he enjoyed mentoring new lawyers.

In his spare time, Terry read American history, solved the New York Times crossword in ink, rode his motorcycle across the country, and rooted for the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Rte. 4, Chatham, with time to share at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials can be made to the Southern Illinois University School of Law.
