Model Illinois Government: Winter Moot Court Competition

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Model Illinois Government. In case you have never heard of it, MIG is an Illinois-based student government organization dedicated to educating future lawmakers and legal professionals by exposing them to real world experiences, including facilitating supportive networking between our students and public service volunteers. We are composed of student leaders from colleges and universities across Illinois and we have a board of permanent staff, which consists of teachers from assorted institutions.

We at MIG work closely with the state government, often hosting senators or justices as speakers amidst our simulation, and have a long-standing relationship with many of the firms and legal offices around Springfield.

Every year, we host a Moot Court competition in Springfield, which is located in Sangamon County; the very same where you both represent the Bar Association, as I pulled your emails from their website. My request for the positions you occupy is to requisition volunteer legal professionals from among your work colleagues or associates who are willing to participate as Judges in this year's MIG Moot Court competition.

It is imperative that we have acting legal professionals, lawyers and judges, to participate in our competition, as the experience our volunteer judges' expertise provides MIG students is majorly impactful upon their educational journeys. I can say from my own experience this is true. Last year, I participated as an attorney and have since been constantly building an invaluable network with Illinois legal professionals of all occupations. Most of which I have met through MIG. Our Moot Court competition is a great opportunity for students seeking legal careers and also something that could be added to the resume of a newly minted juris doctor.
