Land of Lincoln Legal Aid - Pro Bono Week
This week is National Pro Bono Week. The National Celebration of Pro Bono was launched in 2009 due to the increasing need for pro bono services during harsh economic times and the unprecedented response of attorneys to meet this demand. Land of Lincoln Legal Aid is grateful for the pro bono volunteers who transform our clients' lives. Thank you to all those who take cases, provide advice, help at our sealing and expungement clinics, serve as pro bono mediators and GALs in our cases, and recruit others to do pro bono. We couldn't begin to be the organization we are without your help.
Every year each of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid’s five regional offices presents the Joseph R. Bartylak Pro Bono Award to one attorney or judge in the regional office territory who has directly achieved outstanding results for Land of Lincoln clients or who has supported Land of Lincoln staff or pro bono attorneys in the delivery of high quality legal services. This year the Northern Regional Office located in Springfield is please to present the award to Steve Iden. Steve is an attorney willing to accept and travel to rural counties where clients might otherwise not be served. Steve has accepted many difficult family cases that involve violence, parenting time and decision-making issues or a combination of both. In the Northern Regional Office, it is often difficult to find private attorneys willing to accept divorces involved child related issues. Steve also directs prospective clients to Land of Lincoln for assistance and has helped to recruit additional pro bono attorneys in rural counties.
If you are interested in providing pro bono services to Land of Lincoln Legal Aid clients, please reach out to Melinda Hubele, Managing Attorney, at (217) 529-8400 x. 4202.
