FREE EXPUNGEMENT AND SEALING TRAINING

A criminal record can negatively impact a person’s ability to find employment, secure stable housing, and go to school long after their sentence has been completed. This CLE will examine how to assist clients in expunging and sealing certain criminal records including Cannabis convictions.

The Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s office, the Sangamon County Bar Association, the Sangamon County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee, Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Springfield Urban League, the Appellate Public Defender’s Office, Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries, and Identi-Check are holding a virtual Expungement and Sealing Summit with the deadline for filing the Petitions on October 16, 2021.

The training is free. We only ask that you consider assisting with the virtual summit by reviewing criminal records or taking a pro bono expungement/sealing case from Land of Lincoln Legal Aid in the future
