2023 Sangamon County Expungement & Record Sealing Summit - 10/21

The 2023 Sangamon County Expungement & Record Sealing Summit is scheduled for October 21st.  

The event will be held at the LLCC- Medical District, 130 West Mason Street, Springfield, IL 62702. 

The Sangamon County Bar Association is a co-sponsor of the Summit.  The Summit Committee is seeking private attorneys to volunteer to assist those attendees that are ineligible for Land of Lincoln Legal Aid services.  Pro Bono Attorneys will review the attendees’ Illinois State Police criminal background, advise attendees on their eligibility to expunge and seal under the Illinois Criminal Identification Act, and draft petitions for those with eligible Sangamon County criminal histories. The Illinois State Police criminal backgrounds will be obtained by attendees prior to the Summit.  Representation begins and ends at the Summit for pro bono attorneys. 

Land of Lincoln Legal Aid is hosting two free CLEs focused on expungement, sealing, and cannabis expungements. The CLEs will be held on July 20th and August 31st and will be held via zoom and in person. 

The in person location for the CLEs is the Illinois Baptist State Association located at 3085 Stevenson Drive, First Floor, Springfield, IL 62703.

Please note that you are not required to attend the CLEs in order to volunteer.
