Judge Lewis Passing
Theodis "Ted" Lewis, the first Black judge to be appointed to the Seventh Judicial Circuit, died at his home in Chatham on Feb. 17.
He was 77.
A native of Little Rock, Ark., who attended Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois Law School, Lewis was appointed an associate circuit judge for Sangamon County in 1991.
