Dr. Ramsey-Klawsnik Webinar: The Components of a Trauma-Informed Approach

Dr. Ramsey-Klawsnik Webinar #2: The Components of a Trauma-Informed Approach

Join us for a webinar on Aug 09, 2021 at 1:00 PM CDT.

Abuse often has a traumatizing effect on victims and therefore it is important for APS staff to understand and apply principles of trauma-informed care. This involves a respectful, sensitive approach to assisting clients. Victim-centered, trauma-informed care prioritizes the victim's need for safety, respect and acceptance and maximizes victim choice and control. It applies the empowerment model in which victim strengths are validated and serve as the foundation for recovery. This webinar will describe a trauma-informed approach, including key elements and principles and steps.

This webinar is the second in a four-part series presented by Holly Ramsey-Klawsnik, Ph.D, LCSW, LMFT. Dr. Ramsey-Klawsnik is a Sociologist Researcher, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Licensed Certified Social Worker with post-doctoral training in the study of aging. She has provided clinical services to older and vulnerable adults and extensive training for professionals regarding issues of aging, disability, and victimizations. Her research, practice, teaching, and publications have focused on investigating alleged abuse of older and vulnerable persons, interviewing skills, casework skills and supervision, mental health and mental capacity, domestic violence and sexual assault, victimization within care facilities, polyvictimization and other issues.
