Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission - Job Posting

PART-TIME ATTORNEY
Springfield, IL

As an agency of the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) is charged with promoting and protecting the integrity of the legal profession. The ARDC assists the Supreme Court in regulating the legal profession through registering lawyers, conducting education and outreach programs relating to compliance with Rules of Professional Conduct and the effective representation of clients, investigating complaints of lawyer misconduct, prosecuting lawyer disciplinary proceedings and advocating for remedial action on behalf of victims of lawyer misconduct.

Currently, the ARDC’s Springfield office has a vacancy for a part-time attorney position in its Adjudication department. This position is analogous to a judicial clerkship, and responsibilities will include conducting research and drafting substantive reports for the ARDC’s Hearing Board that will be submitted to the Illinois Supreme Court. Adjudication Counsel must be physically present for in-person hearings held at the ARDC’s Springfield office. Remote attendance at virtual hearings is also required. Approximate work schedule: 10-15 hours/week. The hourly rate is $110.00/hr.

A candidate must be an attorney, registered and admitted to practice law in Illinois. Strong writing and research skills are essential, and experience as a judicial clerk or an appellate counsel is preferred. The ARDC is committed to a culture of diversity and inclusion. We offer a hybrid work schedule and a congenial work atmosphere. Interested parties should send a letter, resume and one unedited writing sample to counselposition@iardc.org
