A Discussion with Speaker Welch

Speaker Welch has served as a State Representative since January 2013, representing the 7th House District. On January 13, 2021, Welch became the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, the first African-American lawmaker to attain that position. The discussion, moderated by ALA President John Fitzgerald, will focus on current issues facing the legal profession and State government in Illinois, including criminal justice reform, legislation affecting civil litigation, and social justice.
